About KSA

Kaua`i Society of Artists was organized in 1975 by a group of painters who wanted to promote interest in the visual arts. Since its inception, KSA has served the community by sponsoring a host of workshops, lectures, and art exhibitions. Incorporating as a nonprofit in 1983, KSA now sponsors four shows a year:  "Art Kaua`i", the "Small Works Show", the "Spring Show" and  the "Washed Up", a marine debris art show. The organization has become an important venue for Kaua`i artists and has offered a much needed-opportunity for residents and visitors to experience local art. 

As KSA has continued to expand its schedule of events, it has moved to a variety of donated spaces, including Kaua`i Museum, the State Building in Lihue, and various commercial galleries. Since 1999, KSA exhibitions have been held at the Kukui Grove Center in Lihu`e, which has generously donated its facilities. In addition to its three yearly shows, KSA now hosts other exhibitions and art events, to better utilize the space.  

Kaua`i Society of Artists is fueled by volunteers. These volunteers curate shows, select jurors, coordinate communication with members, maintain the gallery space, and more. KSA would not exist without the continued support of the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, the generosity of Kukui Grove management, and the aloha of businesses, organizations, and individuals who support KSA through their donation of exhibition space, awards, and volunteer labor.
